semantics and its interface with syntax and pragmatics, computational linguistics

Hi there! 😎

My name is Youngdong Cho (pronounced as [jʌŋdoŋ dʑo]), a fourth-year PhD student in the Department of Linguistics at Cornell University, minoring in Cognitive Science.

My primary research interests lie in theoretical semantics and its interface with syntax and pragmatics. One of my ongoing projects examines the semantics and pragmatics of non-canonical questions focusing on Korean. My research interests also lie in experimental and computational approaches to linguistic phenomena. I am currently working with Sarah Murray and John Whitman.

Prior to coming to Cornell, I received my M.A. in English Language and Literature at Seoul National University, where I worked on the syntax and semantics of fragments in English echo questions. I hold a B.A. from the same institution, with a minor in Linguistics.
